Major Elective
(31 credits)• ~Class of 2023: Must include one course from either Computer 1 or Computer 2
• Class of 2024~: Total 31 credits
Courses from other departments that count as electives for the chemistry major.
-
Class of 2023 ~
• Up to 6 credits of second, third, and fourth year major courses from any department in the College of Science, College of Engineering, and College of Biosystems, except for courses that are not accepted as elective courses for chemistry majors. However, Advanced Calculus 1 (MAT2001) and Advanced Calculus 2 (MAT2002) are basic courses for majors in the College of Science, so they are accepted as electives for chemistry majors, not electives for other majors.
• Courses that cannot be accepted as elective courses for chemistry majors (1): Courses of a liberal arts nature, such as 'Career Exploration Special Lecture' and 'Career Development Seminar'
• Courses that cannot be accepted as elective courses for chemistry majors (2): Courses with most content overlap with chemistry majors - Physical Chemistry (BTE2101), Biological Organic Chemistry (BTE2201), Ind Physical Chemistry 1 (DAA3210), Ind Physical Chemistry 2 (DAA3220), Industrial Organic Chemistry (DAA3240), Ind Analytical Chem (DAA2240), Introduction to Materials Science 2 (MST2220), Physical Chemistry for Materials Science (MST3590), Organic Materials Chemistry (MST3610), Materials Inorganic Chemistry (MST3670)
• Courses that cannot be accepted as elective courses for chemistry majors (3): Courses completed with a P/NP or S/U assessment
• For teaching majors, the curriculum area course Science Education (SCI3001) is accepted as a major elective.
