The Institute for Molecular Science

The Department of Chemistry at Yonsei University provides an educational and research environment that fosters creative and outstanding global leaders who will lead the central science of the future.

The Department of Chemistry at Yonsei University, which started the first chemistry program in Korea in 1917. has contributed to the development of domestic academia and industry by cultivating a large number of specialized personnel. Yonsei University's Department of Chemistry has contributed to the development of academia and industry in Korea, and is making a leap toward becoming a world-class chemistry department.

Introduction

The Institute for Molecular Science was established in 1999 as an affiliated research institute of the College of Science to revitalize research on molecular science, which is at the center of cutting-edge technology in the 21st century, and to achieve global competitiveness.

The purpose of the institute is to focus on observational research on the reactions and properties of matter and life phenomena at the molecular level, to induce free and active research activities and academic discussions among various disciplines, and to effectively collect excellent research results to create new materials directly necessary for daily life and to foster excellent research personnel.

The institute conducts internationally competitive research in seven research fields, including solid-state chemistry, molecular energy, molecular biology, bioorganic molecules, organic synthesis, supramolecular materials, and environmental analysis, and plays a central role in academic and research activities in the field of molecular science research on campus by receiving and conducting research orders from governments, research institutes, and industrial companies, promoting research and academic cooperation with internationally renowned research and educational institutions, and regularly organizing interdisciplinary seminars and symposia.

In addition, as part of Yonsei University's on-campus characterization project, we have received research support for characterization of the nano-bio field and are focusing on fostering research manpower in the field of nano-bio technology needed in the future.
